End of Season Tournament Rules
The End-of-Season Tournament is a single elimination championship event for each division. This tournament celebrates the progress of the season and gives teams a final opportunity to compete for a title. Games are expected to be competitive but respectful. Teams, coaches, and spectators are reminded to follow all league rules and USA Hockey guidelines.
Game Format
- U10 Games: 3 periods of 12-minute stop-time
- U12 & U14 Games: 3 periods of 13-minute stop-time
- Time-Outs: Each team is allowed one 30-second timeout
- Running Clock Rule: If a team leads by 5 or more goals in the 3rd period, the clock will run
- Stop-time resumes if the differential drops below 5
Tiebreakers & Overtime
If a game is tied at the end of regulation:
- A 5-minute, 3-on-3 sudden death overtime will be played
- If still tied, a 3-player shootout will occur
- If still tied, shootout continues one player at a time until a winner is decided
- No player may shoot twice until all skaters have taken a turn
Penalties
- Minor: 90 seconds
- Major: 4 minutes
- Misconduct: 8 minutes
All penalties begin with the drop of the puck.
Team Assignments & Responsibilities
- Higher Seed = Home Team
- Wears light-colored jerseys
- Lower Seed = Away Team
- Wears dark-colored jerseys
Each team is responsible for providing:
- 1 Volunteer for the Penalty Box
- Home Team: Also provides a volunteer for clock and GameSheet
Officials & Timing
- Referees will be assigned by 614-Refs
- Be Ready Early: Teams should be ready to take the ice 20 minutes before scheduled game time in case games are running ahead
Respect Our Officials:
Referees are an essential part of the game. Verbal abuse, arguing, or unsportsmanlike conduct toward officials will not be tolerated from players, coaches, or spectators. Remember—no refs, no game.
Discipline & Conduct
- Due to a tight schedule, supplemental discipline will not be issued
- All decisions related to penalties and suspensions will be made by on-ice officials
- USA Hockey rules apply—sportsmanship is expected from all participants
